Under an exciting new state law, you can redirect a portion of your Georgia income tax payments to provide scholarship assistance to incoming PCS students! To enable our supporters to take advantage of this program, we are working with the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, a state-approved student scholarship organization. If you pay Georgia taxes, you can receive a tax credit (more than a mere income tax deduction!) against your Georgia income tax liability for amounts donated to GOAL. For married couples filing a joint return, the maximum tax credit-eligible contribution is $2,500 ($1,000 as an individual). The best part is that you are not affecting your budget in any way; you are donating money to GOAL (designated for use at PCS) that you were going to give to the state government in taxes anyway! To ensure approval of your intended contribution in time to secure a 2008 Georgia income tax credit, you must take the first step listed below and file the Form IT-QEE-TP1 by November 14, 2008. Until you receive your approval from the DOR, no payment is required. IRS Form IT-QEE-TP1 - click to download GOAL Scholarship Website - click to visit the website and learn more. Corporations can receive a tax credit for amounts contributed to the GOAL Scholarship Program up to 75 percent of their Georgia income tax liability. Presently, this tax credit is only fully available to "C" corporations. Unfortunately, shareholders of S corporations and members of LLCs and LLPs are subject to the individual tax credit limitations. How are the funds used? The GOAL Scholarship Program uses the PCS-designated contributions to fund K-8 scholarships for public school children who desire to attend PCS. The scholarships are also available for qualified students who are eligible to enter kindergarten. Each year, PCS uses its regular admission and financial aid processes to determine those students who are eligible to receive GOAL scholarships and submits the scholarship candidates and amounts to GOAL for final approval. | How does this work?Just follow these simple steps and don't hesitate to call if you need help or clarification:
In the end, you will have spent no extra money at all, but you will have helped PCS build a scholarship fund for new students, and you will get an extra federal tax deduction!
